Collaboration Fun with a Friend

On my way home from a visit to friends in Ohio, I decided to make a slight detour and visit my friend and artist Carolyn Dube.  I was SO EXCITED to play in her studio with her! You know those kind of people that just "get" you? Well, she does and we wasted no time playing, video taping and laughing. Laughing a lot!

She is the video queen and has TONS of great tutorials on YouTube including this one below.  Please excuse the disheveled look of me in the intro...she did NOT tell me we were going to tape and so I didn't get hours in the make up chair like she did! ;0

Anyway, hope you enjoy our little canvas play as we paint a layer, switch canvases and paint more.

Here are some snap shots of the canvases as we played.  Below is the video.

Does anyone else laugh when they see these words and how they "happened" together??!!

Let me know what you think!

  1. What a fun day and visit you had. Love how both boards came out. Nothing better than friends and art.

  3. I'll write exactly what I wrote on Carolyn's blog: Wonderful collaboration. So many great reasons to do this kind of exercise. And the results were–well, what can I say–you even got an angel’s blessing for your efforts! Great to see you both together.

  4. I had an absolute blast watching the two of you work together. It made me think, I ought to get together with some friends...and a little wine and acrylics and play the same game. Sounds like fun to me. I thoroughly enjoy your style.

  5. I was drawn to this post as I just had an Artist's Retreat with a friend. She came and stayed for a few days and we did art together. Watching the video I saw a lot of similarities (only I am hesitant to use the color red and that is a constant topic of conversation.) I liked the challenge you set and how you collaborated on your canvases. It really kept the creativity bar high. Both canvases are lovely to look at. Your layering choices fascinated me. I have so far to go in seeing the possibilities.

Feel free to stop over to see our artist's retreat if you like.
